Moved by nature’s amazing depth of presence, I spend a considerable amount of time alone with her. Amidst the harmonious sounds filling the air, I find peace.
The sound of a quiet lake in a dense forest, that of a sunset’s crimson hymn upon a desert’s dunes, of the rustle of autumn’s leaves and the whisper of the ocean’s gentle waves. They all share a common sound. A mysterious sound. A sound akin to silence : the Sound of Silence. . . The silence of moonlight’s reflection on water, the brilliance of a shooting star running across the starlit night and the souffle of the wind dancing through the trees. These are a silence apart from sound, apart from the clamor of men. A silence akin to peace.
